Field Notes in the Vortex

Made in conversation with the wide open terrain of the High Desert of Southern California, Field Notes in the Vortex documents the evolution of my connection to the land and my process of meeting kin. My field notes are insights into the metaphysical, as the body surrenders and portals open as time and space shift and bend; stories of intimate encounters with desert beings and bodies; and rituals I've cultivated as a child of diaspora that have allowed me to root and find belonging, wherever I am.
This project has been brought to life across residencies at High Desert Test Sites at A-Z West and Jackrabbit Studios, and is currently being produced while in residence at Kala Art Institute.
